The Community of O'Fallon

The city was incorporated in 1912 and as several communities in Missouri its name was derived from railroad expansion. U.S. District Court Judge and Missouri Legislator Arnold Krekel granted North Missouri Railroad permission to build a depot on his property in 1856 and named it for his friend, railroad president, and noted philanthropist John O’Fallon.

O’Fallon remained a small community in central St. Charles County until the 1980’s when the population boom began. By 1990 there were 17,000 residents and there are nearly 70,000 today.
