Saint Charles Missouri Commuinty Profile - St. Charles Real Estate and Homes 

Many consider St, Charles to be an area of urban sprawl from St. Louis but the City is the second oldest in Missouri and was established well before the term urban sprawl was used. Located just to the northwest of St. Louis, and founded in 1765 by Louis Blanchette of Lewis and Clark fame, the city of St. Charles Missouri is located in the eastern part of the County. It has the unique designation as the staging area along the Missouri River for Lewis and Clark expeditions and was the first Missouri State Capitol. The rich history is apparent in the “Old Town” area along Main Street which included shops, restaurants, coffee houses, antiques a historic view.

The Community of St. Charles

As the County Seat for the County of St. Charles, the City serves well over 60,000 residents. U.S I – 70 provides easy access to St. Louis City and County as well as western St, Charles County. Highlights of the area include affordable housing, outstanding historic and recreational facilities, and excellent schools which include St. Charles www.stcharles.k12.mo.us and Francis Howell www.fhsd.k12.mo.us.
