<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>ST. LOUIS &#8211; The Missouri Department of Transportation, and its contractor, Millstone Bangert, Inc., will move traffic to the new pavement on the north side of Route 340 (<br />
Olive Boulevard<br />
) between 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2007. Additionally, crews will open the ramp from southbound I-170 to<br />
Olive Boulevard<br />
and switch southbound I-170 traffic to the new I-170 lanes after 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2007. Northbound I-170 traffic will stay on the current lanes until Friday, June 15, 2007.<br />
On Saturday, June 16, 2007, MoDOT will close><br />
Olive Boulevard<br />
under I-170 to remove the remaining portions of the I-170 bridges over</p>
<p>Olive Boulevard<br />
.</p>
<p>Olive Boulevard<br />
will open after crews clean up from tearing down the bridges; the route is scheduled to open no later than 6 a.m. Monday, June 18.</p>
<p>With the new traffic pattern, traffic on westbound<br />
Olive Boulevard<br />
will still be unable to make a left turn onto the southbound I-270 ramp. To access southbound I-170, follow the detour signs: take northbound I-170 to</p>
<p>Page Avenue<br />
and take the ramp for southbound I-170.</p>
<p>The construction is part of a $25.9 million project to construct a single point intersection to relieve congestion on both I-170 and Route 340. This work will also lengthen entrance and exit ramps to improve the intersection&#8217;s safety.<br />
Motorists may experience delays during this work and are encouraged to use alternate routes. Plan ahead &#8212; for ways to avoid work zones, call 1-888-ASK-MODOT or visit our website at <a href="<a href="http://www.modot.org/%22%3Ewww.modot.org%3C/a">http://www.modot.org/&#8221;>www.modot.org</a>>. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>ST. LOUIS &#8211; The Missouri Department of Transportation, and its contractor, St. Louis Bridge, Inc., will close I-255 under the Telegraph Road overpass and will close Telegraph Road (Route 231) from Barracksview Road to Kinswood Lane from 10 p.m. Friday, June 8 to 5 a.m. Monday June 11 to remove part of the existing bridge. Crews will start restricting lanes at 8 p.m. Friday, June 8 to prepare for the 10 p.m. closure. Traffic from I-255 will be routed over the exit and entrance ramps on either side of the bridge &#8211; there will be one lane of traffic each over the westbound and eastbound ramps.</p>
<p>Detours for the night of the bridge closure are:</p>
<p>For travelers on northbound Telegraph Road (Route 231), detour on Kinswood Road to Koch Road to access eastbound or westbound I-255.<br />
For travelers on southbound Telegraph Road (Route 231), detour to Barracksview Road to Lindbergh and then make a left turn in front of Home Depot to access eastbound I-255 or continue on Lindbergh to access I-55 or westbound I-255.<br />
The lane closures and traffic restrictions are part of a $7.1 million bridge reconstruction project, to replace the two bridges over I-255 with one bridge and improve interchange flow. The improvements will include a double loop ramp from northbound Telegraph Road to westbound I-255. The improvement will also update the bridges (one which was built in the late 1940s and the other in the early 1950s) and will add an additional lane on westbound I-255 between Telegraph to nearly Lemay Ferry Road. </p>
<p>Motorists may experience delays during this work and are encouraged to use alternate routes. Plan ahead &#8212; for ways to avoid work zones, call 1-888-ASK-MODOT or visit our website at <a href="http://www.modot.org/">www.modot.org</a>. Crews will begin restricting lanes on I-270 at 8 p.m. Friday; all lanes will be closed by 10 p.m. just before crews starting work to demolish the bridge and clean up the debris. <p>This $6.1 million project will widen the bridge from four lanes to seven lanes, including two through lanes and two left turn lanes on westbound Dougherty Ferry as well as one through lane and two left turn lanes on eastbound Dougherty Ferry. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>    ST. LOUIS &#8211; The Missouri Department of Transportation will unveil the latest addition to its travel information package Friday, May 11, 2007, when it launches its 511 travel information telephone number for St. Louis at the Transportation Management Center in Town and Country.</p>
<p>511 is the nationally -recognized travel information telephone number, similar to 911 for emergency information and 411 for phone information. With the launch of the service, travelers in St. Louis City and County, and Franklin, Jefferson and St. Charles counties will be able to get real-time travel information on interstates and major state routes by simply dialing three numbers.</p>
<p>The travel information number is a public service of the telecommunications industry, MoDOT and Traffic.com, a NAVTEQ company. The voice-operated phone number will give travelers the ability to get traffic speeds, incident and other pertinent information for their daily travel needs. Additionally, by registering on the co-sponsored MoDOT and Traffic.com website, travelers can get information on their routes sent directly to their telephone or e-mail accounts.</p>
<p>The 511 travel information service is free, though cellular users will pay normal airtime and roaming charges and pay-phone customers will pay the minimum pay-phone toll fee.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>HOW WILL WE ASSIST YOU IF YOU ARE STALLED OR INVOLVED IN A CRASH?<br />
Motorist Assist operator can help change tires, provide fuel and perform other minor, short term repairs. If Motorist Assist cannot get an individual motorist moving again, they will provide a phone to call for additional help. They also help provide a safer situation for a stalled motorists by providing a safe buffer with their truck and emergency flashing lights (give them some room if you approach them on the highway).</p>
<p>If a motorists becomes stranded on an interstate highway patrolled by Motorist Assist, he or she is encouraged to pull as far off onto the right shoulder as possible and, if safe, wait with their vehicle for a Motorist Assist truck to arrive.</p>
<p>Since Motorist Assist stops at all vehicles that appear to have trouble, there is no need to call them. Unless there is an emergency, the average response time is 20 minutes. Do not leave your vehicle &#8211; we can&#8217;t help you if you are not there with your car.</p>
<p>In the event of an emergency, a motorist should call *55 on their mobile phone. If you are involved in a crash, move your vehicles to the RIGHT shoulder out of the lanes of traffic, then call *55 and get back in your vehicle.</p>
<p>It will provide the safest situation for you to await help and it&#8217;s the law.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As it has been widely publicized Interstate 64, known to many in the metro area as Highway 40, is going to be closed in both directions in various phases for 2 years starting in 2008.</p>
<p>Many of the overpasses along the route will be closed this year.</p>
<p>There are many concerns however it appears that the Missouri Department of Transportation has done their due diligence and is providing alternative routes and plenty of information located at <a href="http://www.thenewi64.org/">www.thenewi64.org</a>.  You will also be able to get information at <a href="http://www.gatewayguide.com/">www.gatewayguide.com</a> which should be fully functional by summer 2007.  MoDOT’s toll free line is available at 888-ASK-MODOT and the I-64/Highway 40 project line 314-524-9191 and you can get a live response.</p>
<p>Look for further announcements as further tools and information become available.</p>
